Macchiatto Monster

Hey everyone, Macciatto Monster here to finally introduce myself.
Hmmm, where to begin? Born inSault Ste Marie, moved a zillion times and ended up in Bradford. Just moved here 2 months ago so if you ask me where something is I have no idea...unless its One Red Chair cause I know that one ;)
Completely new to the "real" coffee world I have plenty to learn and am happy to fix you a drink of your choice. By trade I am a clothing designer, co-owner of the line Monster Muffin. You can check out our desings at www.monstermuffin.com.
I'm not too sure what else to say but if you'd like to to know more come here and start a conversation, I love meeting new people!

Taste this!

Puzzled by the crazy coffee descriptions on the coffee bags? Wondering what the heck "smooth body with a hint of acidity and a crisp citrus finish" means when tasting coffee? Well here's your chance to find out.

Join us here every Thursday at 11:30am as we perform a professional coffee cupping (tasting) on our new arrivals. Join in and we will show you how properly taste coffee and what all those wacky coffee descriptions really mean. It's free, fun and caffiniated.

See you there!

Situated in our small town, up the road from the quaint ice cream store, across the street from early 1800's red brick post office, is our barista cove: THE ONE RED CHAIR.

With such character, such coffee, and such conversation, our coffeehouse not only provides the best the coffee in town (north of Toronto), best blossoming baristi, but jamming small town gossip topped with humour that even makes Mike blush, and make us all laugh.

There is no other experience in the world than educating the customer on what makes direct trade coffee better than direct trade coffee, what the heck latte art is, the size difference between a cappucino and a latte. I love watching little kids with whip cream moustaches smiling back at me, individuals wanting to watch a roasting, participating in a cupping, and debating on whether they want to try a new drink or stick with their favourite.

I am a Bradfordian, born and raised. Nothing will ever change my Bradford bones. With certain quaint stylistic advances, like new places to hang like our ONE RED CHAIR, the quaint bookstore, ice cream shop, and a new italian restaurant, I am proud of my town more than ever.
And proud to be a part of this great coffeehouse, and becoming a "Master Espresso in Training", working alongside professional baristi, and drinking Intelligentsia Direct Trade coffee.

Now, I take sips at other places and compare coffees. Everything else is watered-down, dry, and dead. Yes, coffee can be dead. But drinking our coffee is like hiking through a South American jungle, listening to the sounds of exotic birds, falling in love with the canopy of trees, and being face-to-face with a tiger. Everything is happening around, yet a peaceful ambiance washes over, soothing the soul at the same time.

till I write again,

Hang out and send a starving barista to origin!

Yo dudes,

Believe it or not, baristas enjoy company... So come hang out! For some reason, we seem to like making drinks for people. I know, crazy eh? Well, since we do our part and make you your delicious beverages when you want them, it's time for you to do yours and make our days exciting. So just come hang out. You don't even have to buy anything, just coming to chillax is cool. We have decks of cards, so you can come and play some euchre or crazy eights with your friends. We even have a computer with internet that you can use for free! (I'm actually using it to write this) Some younger people even like bringing in their laptops to do some studying for school. So this is not only the coolest coffee shop EVER, but it is also the coolest hangout ever.

Next on the list is the tips! We looove tips ;) Not that i'm trying to push you to give them or anything... The tip jar (or tin in our case) is being deposited into a bank account that will eventually be put towards a trip for as many baristas as possible to go to an origin country to check out the coffee farms. These countries include guatemala, New Guinea, Kenya, etc. So please be generous, and have a heart. Send a starving barista to origin (yes i'm tyring to guilt the tips out of you).

*Insert picture of unhappy starving barista here*

Rock on,

Mr.Linea

Hey guys! My name is Ben, but you may call me Mr.Linea. The La Marzocco "Linea" is the name of our fabulous espresso machine, which I am slowly but surely becoming a master of. Come on down and enjoy some of our guaranteed excellent and non-bitter espresso. Fridays will be our "Free Espresso Fridays" where you can come in and try it out completely risk free. BUT, enough about espresso, for it is not the only focus at One Red Chair. We also serve great espresso based drinks (hot & cold), brewed coffee, fresh baked pastries, and fresh roasted coffee beans for you to enjoy at home. We also have our "Cup of Excellence Experience" where we will roast and serve you some of the world's best coffee right on the spot. We are striving to provide the best quality coffee, but also the best quality service to our customers. Thanks for reading my ramble, and I hope to see you soon!

Rock on,

Mr.Linea

Hey Everyone...

Hey Everyone...This is Vanessa. Or also known/nicknamed as Baristacrat. I am learning the art of making great espresso's and trying my hardest to make cool latte art. It's harder than you think! Before I began to work here I never drank coffee. I thought it had a bad taste. But when I was hired I began to try almost every espresso I made. (My first day I think I tired over 100 espresso shot's. And to say the least my body was wondering what the heck was going on.)I now can hardly go a day without a coffee. Our coffee is really great and very fresh. I have learned so much about coffee, its crazy. I never knew that there was so much about coffee. We work with a great company called Intelligentsia, they provide us with wonderful, fresh coffee. You can check out there website at www.directtradecoffee.com. Well it's time to get back to my coffee so drop us a line and let us know what you think. Give us any suggestions, questions or comments that you may have. And we will try our best to fill you in on anything and everything about our coffee house and great coffee. Hope to see you soon at One Red Chair!!!

We are open!

After four weeks of renos, One Red Chair Coffeehouse in Bradford Ontario is now open!

Staff has been hired and trained (although we still need one more, calling all Barista's!) and ready to go. Coffee is spectacular and so are the other fresh treats.

Drop by if you are in the area and say "hi"!

Check back later as the staff post more random questions, answers, and theories to life itself.

Cheers!
